01Start with your customer’s sizing system
State the destination market and whether sizes are shown as EU, UK, US or age groups. Do not assume a single conversion works for every audience or construction. Share your preferred size range and a reference product where possible; the final size allocation should be confirmed during sampling.
02Measure in a repeatable way
Agree which measurements are taken relaxed and which are taken stretched. Typical discussion points include foot length, leg height, cuff width and overall width. Record the measurement position, method and agreed tolerance. Without a method, two different measurements may describe the same sample rather than a production difference.
03Review fit across the range
Try samples with wearers near both ends of the proposed size range. Review heel position, toe room, cuff pressure and how the sock behaves in the intended shoe. After the agreed wash trial, repeat the measurements and fit checks. Keep the results with the approved sample rather than relying only on a size label.
