THE BUYER’S NOTEBOOK

Better questions.
Better collections.

Practical notes to help you prepare your next project.

01 / GETTING STARTED

What belongs in a sock production brief?

Start with the intended wearer and use. An everyday office sock and a training sock can look similar on a mood board but need different specifications. Include the style, height, size range, material preference, colours and intended quantity.

Attach artwork when available, and distinguish must-have details from ideas you are open to changing. Add packaging needs and your target delivery date. A precise brief helps identify questions before sampling begins.

02 / SAMPLING

How to review your first sample

Compare the sample with your written specification. Check dimensions, cuff comfort, toe finish, pattern placement and colour under consistent lighting. Try the intended size on the intended wearer. Record feedback with photos and clear measurements.

Agree on care instructions and evaluate a wash sample before approving the final version. Keep an approved reference sample so both sides have the same point of comparison for production.

03 / PRESENTATION

Choose packaging with the product

A paper band, hang tag and gift box each serve a different retail experience. Decide how your customer will see, touch and store the socks. Confirm size marks, fibre composition, care information, barcode needs and artwork dimensions before printing.
